A year of planning our growth strategy and expanding our community network. We worked with consultants at Fibrevolution, assembled a core group of volunteers, wrote our business plan and planted flax in 8 locations.
This season-long inclusive community art and education project and celebration of flax for linen in Pennsylvania engages over 60 participants and begins a tradition of growing and processing flax with our community.
As a newly incorporated Cooperative, had our logo designed,convened our first steering committee and began fundraising to support our research and development towards an agricultural scale and mill implementation.
In January of 2024 our work was recognized and uplifted by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Services Organic Market Development Grant and we began implementing our business plan.
With our new harvesting equipment, we planted 32 acres of fiber flax. We had 85 square yard participants, hosted 21 public events. While scaling agriculture, we laid the groundwork for our mill development project.
